Divinity of Women

Blakeslie (Bean) Taylor

This is a sacrament talk given by Blakeslie on April 25th, 2021.

Hello for those of you who do not know me, my name is Blakeslie Taylor.  I'd like to start my talk with a little bit of math. Let's say there are 40 young women and 40 young men in this ward totaling to around 80 youth. On average we have 2 youth speakers a week one boy and one girl. So if you take 80 and divide it by 2 to show about how many weeks worth of different youth speakers we could have, you get 40 weeks but let’s take it even further and  divide it by 4 to show about how many months each youth speaker should have in between each talk they give in sacrament. If I did my math right it would be around 10 months. Not including conferences, holidays, and special programs, the youth in our ward should expect to be seen up here around once a year. But I don't think our bishopric is very good at math because somehow it's only been 5 months since i had to speak last. Based on my math I shouldn’t have been asked to speak until September of this year.

But I guess I already wrote this talk so I might as well get it over with. I was asked to speak on the divine roles of women in the church. At first I was thinking it's just to have a family and to further god's plan by bringing children into this world. Yes that is definitely part of it, but it's so much more than that. President Heber J Grant once said “Without the devotion and absolute testimony of the living God in the hearts of our mothers, this Church would die.” This is true without women men would not be able to run this church. Women are able to think beyond the basics and are able to see things in a whole different way. Women are amazing at coming up with agendas and step by step guides to get things done. Hence why the primary president is usually a woman and why the relief society has such great  activities.

Jumping into the scriptures,  In proverbs 31 it says

“Who can find a avirtuous bwoman? for her price is far above rubies'' it later states, “She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.''

This means that a woman is able to look at field that others may deem undesirable and is able to turn it into a beautiful vineyard. This is the same with children. Women have the divine power to help shape children.

My mom is an amazing example of a divine woman through her hard work and with lots of love. She was able to help Dax find his love for reading and helped him develop his talent. She is always so supportive of everything he does and it really makes a difference. This isn't just the case with dax she has helped all of us develop our talents no matter what they are. She works so hard driving my siblings around to all their activities everyday I don't know how she does it. Although I don’t always show it I am eternally grateful for the sacrifice she has made for me to make sure that I am able to have so many opportunities to grow.

Another divine role of women is to spread the gospel. In 2006, Spencer W Kimble said

“Much of the major growth that is coming to the Church in the last days will come because many of the good women of the world … will be drawn to the Church in large numbers. This will happen to the degree that the women of the Church reflect righteousness and articulateness in their lives and … are seen as distinct and different—in happy ways—from the women of the world.”

As women in our church, we are called to exemplify the goodness of the gospel in our everyday lives. When we do so others are attracted to us and the happiness we feel as we follow Christ's commandments. Women are a very important part of God's plan because we have been called to raise children to be righteous members of the church and to spread the gospel by being an example.
